Brace yourself, the city government is set to close portion of major streets around Cogon Market to allow street vendors to ply their trade during the holidays.
In its newsletter (screenshot below), Task Force Hapsay Dalan chair Atty. Jose Edgardo Uy disclosed that street vendors will be allowed to occupy portions of JR Borja, Capt. Vicente Roa, President Osmeña and Lt. Guillermo streets for the period December 15-31, 2014. He added that street vendors will be allowed only for the time period 3:00pm up to 6:00am the next day. Further, vendors need to secure permit as well as provide garbage bins. Because of this, a traffic re-routing scheme is now on the drawing board.
Well, I guess motorists will have to think twice in going to Cogon beginning December 15.
