Cagayan de Oro City has been nominated for the “Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Cities” in the highly urbanized city category
This was disclosed by Patricia B. Luna, Executive Director of Council for the Welfare of Children. Cagayan de Oro City recently won the regional award for the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance’ and this qualifies the city for the ‘Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Cities’.
With the nomination, the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) are now coordinating with the different departments of City Hall in the preparation of the necessary documents which will be submitted to the National Awards Committee.
The members of the NAC are slated to visit the city on November 25 to 28 for the evaluation and validation. Included in their itinerary will be a visit to Barangay Bugo, which recently won the city’s Search for Child-Friendly Barangay 2014 conducted by the LCPC.
