Many intersections in Cagayan de Oro now have a functioning traffic light system. However, not all have resulted to smooth traffic flow. Even a few were deliberately turned off by city traffic authorities.
Take for instance the new traffic light system installed at the junction of Vamenta Boulevard and Masterson Avenue in Barangay Carmen. Before the traffic light system became operational, eastbound vehicles using Kagay-an Bridge are free to proceed any time. But with the traffic light now operational, a long line of vehicles coming from the uptown area are usually seen as shown below. This is now evident particularly during rush hours.
Because the junction is a Y-shape intersection, some say perhaps a better solution but costly is a flyover from Vamenta going left to Kagay-an Bridge. What do you say….
