Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno led local officials, city hall employees, local police and armed forces and the family of the late former City Mayor Justiniano R. Borja in commemorating his 50th death anniversary at Divisoria early today.
“Tinying” as he was often called, has been regarded as the best mayor the city ever had and was responsible of transferring the city’s public market from the old amphitheater site (Burgos Street) to present day Cogon Public Market, now a thriving commercial business district. The street which connects Cogon to the city proper was named after him. Borja served as city mayor from 1954-1964. He died while on an official trip to Manila on October 3, 1964. (LINK)
