Cagayan de Oro’s City Central School became the beneficiary of Globe Telecom’s first mobile laboratory with a turnover ceremony held last August 8, 2014.
The mobile laboratory package consists of netbooks, mobile projectors, printers and sound systems for use by homeroom teachers at each grade level. The mobile laboratory is the first installment of the ICT equipment in the school. The project is part of Globe’s Global Filipino Schools (GFS) program.
According to Issa Cabreira, VP for Globe Prepaid Business, the GFS program is a long term educational initiative that seeks to transform select public schools into centers of ICT excellence and innovative teaching methods in order to set the stage for the 21st-century learning. It also allows students to have increased access to e-books, videos, posters, and other digital content, making learning more exciting and engaging for students.
In receiving the ICT equipment, City Central School Lead Principal Celso Pagulon expressed his gratitude to Globe for selecting his school as the first GFS in the city. He added that the program will of great help to the teachers with improved online connectivity.
Globe partnered with City Central School and Department of Education for the mobile lab project which will also provide the school superior online connectivity for the teachers to access limitless teaching and learning engagements available on the internet as well as enhanced ICT equipment and the introduction of 21st Century Teaching Methods which will be provided to teachers through the Global Filipino Teacher Program (GFT), a 5-day teacher training workshop on Project-based Learning and ICT Integration in the classroom.
Officials from Globe Telecom were joined during the turnover ceremony by school officials, representatives from Department of Education, teachers, press people, bloggers, some students and Sarah Geronimo, Globe’s top celebrity endorser.
