A determined Meralco Bolts squad broke open a close game with a big run in the 3rd quarter and then held on to beat San Miguel, 90-74 before a packed Xavier University Gym in Cagayan de Oro City.

Meralco import Mario West was basically unstoppable in the 3rd period as the Bolts notched their 2nd win in the PBA Governor’s Cup. San Miguel on their part was playing without injured starters Chris Ross and Marcio Lassiter while import Reggie Williams struggled all night. Only Junemar Fajardo carried the fight for the Beermen.

The crowd had packed the gym as early as 2:00pm that many were not able to watch the game. The need for a much bigger facility in the city became more evident as the crowd outside packed Corrales Avenue fronting the gym.IMG_7065
