In an effort to address the classroom backlog in Cagayan de Oro City public schools, City Mayor Oscar Moreno led on Friday, May 16, 2014 the groundbreaking for the construction of a two-storey, 16-classroom school building in Pagatpat Elementary School, and another two-storey, 8-classroom school building for the new Pagatpat National High School.
Each school building project is designed to be utilized with a multi-functional roof deck, serving as venue of school activities and evacuation centers in times of disaster and/or calamities.
Assistant City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Reynaldo Manuel and Pagatpat Barangay Chairman Achilles Jude Babaran both expressed their thanks and gratitude to Mayor Moreno as they are one in saying that the two school building projects will definitely ensure better quality education for our pupils and students.
With the transfer of more than 1,000 families to the Pagatpat Relocation Site, the number of transferee-students for both elementary and high schools in Pagatpat is expected to rise this coming school opening in June, thus, Mayor Moreno saw the urgent need for the immediate implementation of said projects.
At present, the construction of a two-storey, 16-classroom school building projects both in Balulang National High School and Macasandig National High School is now in full swing.
