The 2nd Iponan Bridge linking Bulua and Barra is now passable as the Igpit-Bulua section is now open to vehicular traffic.
Without formal inauguration, vehicles can now traverse the 4-lane alternate highway from Igpit Junction up to Westbound Terminal bypassing the heavy traffic at Bulua proper along the National Highway.
But first, let us check the update of this alternate highway which will link Igpit in Opol to Puntod-Kauswagan Bridge. The entire project is officially called “3rd Bridge Access Road” if we may recall. Below is the Kauswagan Section already widened into 4 lanes and completed.
Below is the Kauswagan-Bayabas Junction which is nearing completion. It is still closed to traffic.
As indicated in the billboard, this will be done by July 29, 2014.
Meanwhile, at Montecarlo Fish Landing Area just beside Westbound Terminal, the new highway is now open.
The old building which was along the RROW has been demolished.
…that yellow building on the left is a PAD FOR RENT…
We are now heading westbound towards Bulua.
It’s traffic free…
Some drainage works are still ongoing in many sections of the highway. This is now approaching the Bulua Junction leading to Glema Stoneware.
This is now approaching Iponan Bridge.
The 4-lane 2nd Iponan Bridge is wide and traffic free as of today.
This is the junction at Barra. We are now in Opol town.
Moving further west, the scenery becomes more serene and of the countryside.
Farmers use part of the road to dry agricultural products.
A few warehouses are now established in this section.
DPWH is also set to place road markings in this road.
You could see this road only has 2 lanes paved while next 3 are still being worked on.
We are now approaching Igpit Junction.
As we approach the National Highway, at right are the vast fishponds.
Just ahead is the Igpit Junction.
It will just be a matter of time as the Bayabas Section will be done….and vehicles can now bypass Bulua towards Pier and perhaps Lapasan and the city’s eastern part without going through the city center.
