The highly successful City Business Forum of Cagayan de Oro held in Hotel Intercontinental in Makati City last February 12, 2014, drew more than 250 top ranking businessmen of the country and abroad. Connect and DO Business in Cagayan de Oro Business Forum is an initiative by the City Government of Cagayan de Oro, USAID- Invest, Promote CDO and Oro Chamber.

The event was supervised by Ms. Eileen San Juan as the Cagayan de Oro Local Economic and Investment Promotions Officer and Ms. Nimfa Albania, the Project’s City Program Adviser.

Currently, Cagayan de Oro is recognized as the Philippines most competitive city with its unprecedented economic growth over the last ten years. This is considered as a crucial catalyst that continues to fuel the growth of Northern Mindanao, making it one of the fastest growing regions in the country.

The Business Forum highlighted the testimonials from top rank multinational businessmen who have chosen Cagayan de Oro as home to their multimillion business investments such as Dr. Walter W. Brown- Executive Chairman of A Brown Company, Mr. Gillermo D. Luchangco, Chairman and CEO of The ICCP Group (Pueblo de Oro), Victor del Rosario, EVP of Phinma Corporation, Emilio Tumbocon of the Ayala Land, and Davic Ebb Hincliffe, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Phils. City Mayor Oscar S. Moreno, also entered into Memorandum of Agreement with various future business investments- to which he expressed optimism that the City will sustain its economic vibrancy through new investments coming in for the city. The CDO Business Forum also included a Business Networking Session where interested investors can inquire on the investment opportunities in the city. Organized by the Region/Provincial Offices of DTI Region X, the sessions generated interest in the projects being proposed for the city. Ms. Gloria Steele, Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) expressed her high anticipation that the said Business Forum will fuel robust economic growth for the City and the Region. Also in attendance were Dr. Bernardo M. Villegas, Director for Research and Communications and Dr. Cayetano W. Paderanga of the UP School of Economics.
