You might have noticed that all of Limketkai Mall’s four cinemas are now closed.
Cinemas 3 and 4 were the first to be closed coinciding with the construction of the new Robinsons Department Store and Supermarket. Cinemas 1 and 2 followed as Limketkai Mall closed all of its cinemas for the first time after almost 2 decades. The reason is the long-planned renovation and makeover of its large cinemas.
The cinemas were built in the 1990s following the old design of a large wide viewing area with De Luxe (lower) and Premium (upper) sections. The trend now is a single viewing section and good for a much smaller capacity.
You could see the large tarp on the now closed area.
This is the perspective of what’s inside of the soon to open cinemas.
This is perhaps the lobby.
Just outside, you could see this conveyor carrying construction wastes from the cinema works.
We’ll soon find out if there will be additional cinemas…
