The giant Christmas Tree at Gaston Park was switched on last night illuminating the fountain area.
As shown, the somewhat 40-foot steel pole with rope lights shaped like a tree was a spectacle at the famed park in Cagayan de Oro City with usual twosomes around the dark portions of the unfinished redevelopment project.
At the top of the tree is a huge star.
Workers onsite revealed it was originally designed to be much taller but due to limited time and ongoing redevelopment of the park, the city engineer’s office opted for a much shorter tree, safer and easier to prepare and construct.
“Simbang Gabi” will start soon and the illuminated tree reflects the Christmas ambiance in the area.
More lights are also expected to be installed in the surrounding trees of the said park.
