Spotted this foreigner a few months ago riding a rare and unique pedal powered machine along the National Highway in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.

As shown, the unusually designed trike has the rider sitting with his back somewhat reclined. The suspension is very low but accordingly, the design is for ergonomic reasons since the rider’s weight is distributed over a large area. The traditional bicycle has the rider’s weight sitting on the pelvis which causes further stress on the legs and arms.

After researching thru the net, it’s actually called a RECUMBENT TRIKE. There are two type: the Delta (2 rear wheels); and the Tadpole (2 front wheels). The one above is a tadpole recumbent trike. It is now being widely used abroad for a variety of reasons.
