A lot of the country’s major cities are located along the coast and Cagayan de Oro City is no exception.
As a major transport hub, the city is strategically located at the middle part of Misamis Oriental Province in Southern Philippines and plays a vital role in the economic status of Northern Mindanao and the whole of Mindanao as well being a gateway to other major cities such as Butuan and Surigao in the east, and Iligan and Zamboanga in the west. Road networks to the southern cities of Davao, General Santos and Cotabato are also well established making the city’s location an ideal transshipment hub.
As the city progresses, development across Macajalar Bay is evident as urbanization rapidly spreads to the east towards the industrial towns of Tagoloan and Villanueva where the 3,000-hectare Phividec Industrial Estate is located. A coastal road project is also underway. A shot below shows the expanse of urbanity with the city proper at right.
Below is much farther shot as a passenger ship leaves the city.
