Smog develops amid the dazzling night skyline of Cagayan de Oro City in a recent photo.
This sight is now common in the rapidly urbanizing city from late afternoon to dusk to dawn and in most urban cities worldwide. Smog (smoke + fog) is caused by the mixing of low-lying cloud of liquid droplets called fog and air pollutants from automobiles and factories. Since most of the city’s factories are located far from the city center, the bulk of these air pollutants should come from automobiles.
