Xavier University lost a close decision to powerhouse University Philippines Diliman during the grand finals of the inaugural Philippine Collegiate Peace Debates (PCPD) held last September 14-16, 2013 at the AFP Theater at Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

As a consolation, XU’s Gian Marlon Libot was named Best Speaker in the tournament which was participated in by no less than twenty (20) of the best debating schools in the country. XU earlier defeated Far Eastern University in the semifinals.

The PCPD is Armed Forces of the Philippines and is aimed to provide a venue where national peace and security issues can be discussed while sparking intelligent discourse on peace and Filipino patriotism. The event was organized by the De La Salle Debate Society.
