With the transfer of air transport operations to Laguindingan Airport, people thought we may have seen the last aerial photos of Cagayan de Oro City.

Airline passengers both departing and arriving at Lumbia Airport more often contribute most of these photos. With the opening of Laguindingan Airport, passengers can only see the airport complex and the surrounding area of Macajalar bay around the complex.

But lately, we have been amazed by fresh aerial photos of the city posted in Facebook by Engr. Elpie Paras…yet, we haven’t seen any airplanes or helicopters flying over near the city proper. As revealed by Engr. Paras himself, these photos were actually taken by a Hero2 GoPro camera on board a DJI Phantom Quadcopter similar to the one shown below.

GoPro is a California-based private company whose products include cameras/camcorders mounted on helmets that are used to capture high-definition adventure video/photography.

Using these gadgets is now a global digital trend as it allows you to capture certain views not available by other means with an ordinary handheld camera.
