City Mayor Oscar ‘Oca’ Moreno is now working out the strategic collaboration between the City Government and the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) in a bid to upgrade and rehabilitate the city-run J.R. Borja Memorial City Hospital.
Moreno said that NMMC top officials are supportive to the move as they are ready to lend their technical and personnel support in order to ensure better and improved services of the dilapidated City Hospital.
The City Mayor is hopeful that the collaborative efforts will benefit poor patients, citing that the lack of equipment, medicines and supplies at the hospital would be addressed with the process.
Meanwhile, Mayor Moreno is amenable with the idea to put the operation, management and supervision of the City Hospital at the hands of the national government as Congressmen Klarex Uy, Rufus Rodriguez are strongly pushing for the hospital’s ‘nationalization’.
Moreno said the new set-up will give him ample time to establish strategic hospitals at the western and eastern part of Cagayan de Oro as he explained that the hospital’s funds will now be diverted for the purpose.
