Unknown to many, pilots of airlines landing at Laguindingan Airport still communicate with Lumbia’s control tower.

This is because the new airport is still within range of Lumbia’s navigational facilities which includes radar equipment.  These aids are just enough to aid the pilots in terms of air and runway traffic perhaps aside from their Visual Flight Rules. Shown below is the EMPTY CONTROL TOWER at Laguindingan Airport. As in previous statements by DOTC-CAAP, the navigational equipment will be in place come June 2014.

Meanwhile, below is the view from the control tower.
