Construction of the 300-meter JR Borja Bridge Project has begun.
DPWH-10 officials said the approaches would be 134 meters for the Carmen and JR Borja side. Photos below a backhoe onsite doing some preparatory civil works with the newly graded soil in the foreground.
You can observe the bridge’s approach on Carmen side…directly straight towards Max Suniel Street (COC-Phinma, Jollibee).
As shown in the billboard installed at the junction of JR Borja and Burgos Street, DPWH awarded the project to the winning bidder UKC Builders Inc. which had the lowest offer of some P179 million. It also indicated that the project will be completed in 670 calendar days or on January 25, 2015.
As announced by DPWH-10. the bridge will have 4 lanes which means this house below will likely be demolished.
A field office is now being constructed onsite.
This old wooden bridge with concrete supports will also have to go.
Preliminary line drainage (culvert) is also being installed.
You could foresee that this part shown will be the start of the bridge.
By the second half the year, I believe pile driving for the bridge’s main supports will start.
