The Laguindingan section of the National Highway is now 6 lanes wide.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently implementing the road widening project (Iligan-Cagayan-Butuan Road) beginning with the Laguindingan section. As shown below, first photo is at the junction of the highway and Laguindingan Airport access road.
Photo below shows the ongoing road widening (Laguindingan proper). Note new Phoenix Station at right. A lot of new businesses have sprouted in the vicinity lately.
After passing the town proper, the road starts to descend going to the town of Alubijid (east-bound to Cagayan de Oro). Note highway center line is at left. The 2 new lanes are concrete while the existing highway is asphalt.
Cross drains are still being installed in several areas.
Photo below shows ongoing earthfilling (Alubijid section).
Photo below shows the ongoing road widening at Bulua (Cagayan de Oro).
Meanwhile, a very large Shell Fuel Refilling Station is set to rise at the junction of airport access road as shown. I believe this is already the economic boom in Laguindingan ahead of the airport’s opening.
The Shell Station above is right across the road to the airport as shown below.
Below are latest photos of the Access Road leading to the airport and back.
Note the highway junction ahead.
