Dropped by SM City in uptown Cagayan de Oro a couple of days ago and found out they’re renovating their department store.
Actually, SM City is implementing a series of makeovers of the mall’s interiors to make it pleasant for its customers. Shown below is the entrance to its department store just across the supermarket. The two sides near the entrance are currently closed for renovation.
Initially, SM started reconstructing the department store’s center ceiling shown below with the simple classic yet elegant design.
Up next is the western section as shown below. I think this was completed early this year.
Currently, the eastern section is now in the works as shown below. Isolation walls have separated the work area from the operating area.
The renovations are just part of the mall’s plans which began with the facelift. As building design trends change over the years, older malls need to be re-packaged so as not to lose competition with newer malls.
