Development expert and former XU Dean to head Jesuits in the Philippines

Fr. Antonio F. Moreno, S.J., a Xavier University (XU) Alumni and former XU Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences and Vice President for Social Development, has been named as the new Father Provincial of the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus, to succeed Fr. Jose Magadia, SJ, who will move on to his new assignment in Rome as Fr. General’s Counselor for Formation.

As Jesuit Provincial, Moreno will head the Philippine Mission of the Society of Jesus, founded by Saint Ignatius of Loyola.

Fr. Tony as he is fondly called, studied at XU from grade school to college.

    Congratulations Fr Tony! He was our Dean when I was in 2nd year college then he was named as President of AdZU. He’s a very good man.

    Yes! Xavier is really a force to reckon with in the Ateneo community…2 recent Xavier University Presidents also held the same post in the premier Ateneo de Manila…Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!
