I see the prospects to lure developers but do we really need to convert more government land? In my view as an architecture student, I say we must instead convert it to public spaces like parks filled with trees for people to gather. The Philippines truly lacks these features. NY has central park, SG has lots of huge parks, Malaysia has one at its business district at the foot of Petronas. I say we do the same. Everyone will see the value of property around increases exponentially more than say a mall.
this is long overdue, a jail has no place in a populated area
More strategic location? Or do you mean more secure location?
Before we say anything, I think it would be best to go back to the table and do some URBAN PLANNING now, as in NOW NA coz we don’t have a concept of it… It would probably take generations before we can see some tangible results
panget ang image sa cagayan de oro pag ang provencial jail naa with in central business district. sure gyud nga ayala ang mopalit anang yuta. jada gyud kayo pag ma improve na nga site
The whole of the capitol compound can be comercialized, but the government can put in conract that the de lara park and provincial capitol building be retained as museum
dapat lng jud pra maexpand atong central buisiness district… I hope mas iimprove ang agora, lapasan, gusa, corales, cogon, osmena sts, velez, and macasandig kay gaexpand na jud atong buisiness district…. and dapat ang mga skwaters n gpuyo sa atong buisness district dapat na jud cla irenovate dapat naay mutabang sa ilaha not just the govt… and if this will happen, BONGGA na jud atong dakbayan!
kana btaw na tree, unsay tawag ana n tree ky napansin nko abunda kau na n tree sa tibuok CDO especially in macasandig, nazareth, kauswagan, bulua, upper bulua, uptown, sa city proper, and etc…. nyc xa n tree lami kau butangon ug tree house(wla untay enkanto)
dapat ibalhin njud na para mka attract ug investors…since dapat pod imaximize ang provincial jail in terms of facility.
ds s indeed need to be relocate …dli lng tungod sa current location ana ron na matawag nato sayang na lugar pero ang mga tao pud nga naa dha sa sulod sa presohan, naa sab cla right magpuyo malimpyo ug dli alimuot …ga atimanun gani nato atong mga mananap kana pa nga tao… maau unta nga matinuod nani nga mga plano ..
@Mark: I am not an architecture student, but I agree with you 100%! But here’s the thing: we cannot trust the government to work on public parks. They cannot even secure sidewalks for the pedestrians! It’s really ironic that the private sector has to take the cudgels for the government in this regard. ok ra nako kung himuon ni ug business district so long as the developers devote substantial space for greeneries.
