Water is CDO’s ‘saving grace’ – conclusion

THE headwaters of the Cagayan de Oro River are in the Kalatungan and Kitanglad mountain ranges in Bukidnon. The whole watershed area of Cagayan de Oro is 177,000 hectares that include parts of the mountain ranges of Bukidnon, while the whole area of the city is only 48,000 hectares.

    Singapore’s Smart Water is a nice model for Integrated Water Management.  Singapore has high demand for water but has limited supply such that they import water from Malaysia and even desalinate sea water.  Stormwater is impounded so that silt sinks before being released to the sea minimizing silt damage to corals.
