Senator Manny Villar and Cynthia Villar, Chairman and Managing Director, respectively of Villar Foundation, will lead the blessing and dedication of a memorial in memory of those who died and went missing when tropical storm Sendong ravaged Cagayan de Oro on December 17, 2011.
The event will be held on September 29, 2012 at Golden Haven Memorial Park in Bulua. The Villars have engaged the services of noted architect Frederick Peter Altavas for the memorial’s design which is made up of travertine and black granite base. It also features an ascending circular marker in the middle, accented by a water fountain. Serving as backdrop are 13 pillars where the names of the confirmed and identified dead are listed. Accordingly, relatives of the victims have until September 7, 2012 to coordinate with the city government to have the names of their relatives included in the memorial which has listed 404 names.

Politicians who are currently running tv ads (Cynthia included) are obviously running in the coming election. Moves like these add to their voter base.
I wonder if there’s an online list of those 404 TS Sendong victims so that it would be easy to check the names. Attention @damarre, maybe you can make a page for this so that relatives/friends of victims who are not in the list can check or comment and make it official with the proper government office.
Ah, I noticed that there’s a barrier in front of this memorial. How will visitors see the names of the victims if they cannot go near? Right?
kung kanang gitukod uroy ana gitabang sa mga nabiktima sa sendong mas maayo pa siguro or giabag sa pagsulbad sa problema sa baha aron dili na mautro ang sendong sa atong dakbayan, isa man sab sila sa rason ngano ga baha na syudad, kay sa gihimo hinuon political ad ang nabiktima.. para sa ilang kaogalingon nga interest… mao gayud kini siyam na kabulan ang nilabay aya pa dayon patukod ana ky duol naman election…
