Filomeno M. Bautista, a known Kagay-anon historian wrote about a Major Juan Zanon, military governor of the Misamis Province from 1888 to 1890 whom he considered to be a bridge builder.

The Filipino deprived himself from learning Spanish spoken by more than 500 Million people around the world, an official UN language, without taking note that much of his written history was written in the language of Cervantes. Who would dare to read this document, ‘La Ilustración Filipina’? The old? Why not the young? It might not be useful 30-40 years ago but we have become more global nowadays. =)
