Cagayan de Oro’s Limketkai Mall has evolved from an open air strip mall in the 1990s to a full covered modern shopping center today.

The mall began its major reconstruction when mall giant SM established its first mall in the city at Pueblo de Oro. Being the first in this part of the island, SM City took away Limketkai’s crowd and the mall’s foot traffic decreased significantly. A deal with Robinsons Big R somewhat brought back some its mallers but still, SM City has been getting the bigger share of the pie of the AB clientele and the middle class. Much of the middle class and the CD class meanwhile is still divided between Gaisano and Ororama, the city’s other homegrown shopping centers.

Then the big expansion and reconstruction continued with Rosario Strip, the Atrium, the skybridges, new boutiques and signature shops, etc… and is still expanding as of now. Browse over the photos below.
