The Misamis Oriental Meteors captured their second National Championship by dethroning the M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Ninos, 66-60 at the SMC Liga Pilipinas Conference V National Championship last night at the jam-packed Xavier University Gymnasium.

Lyndon Gudez starred in a 13-5 run ending the third quarter to rally the Meteors from a 35-42 deficit to a 48-47 lead going into the final period.

The title was still up for grabs in the final finute with Cebu missing four throws until Rudy Lingganay hit a 17-foot jumper that gave the Meteors a 66-60 lead with 22 seconds left. Stephen Padilla, who made 8 triples the previous night, missed a triple to seal M. Lhuillier’s fate.

Lingganay led MisOr with 10 points and four rebounds while Gudez added 9 points. Allein Maliksi topped Cebu with 22 points and five rebounds.

Forward Neil Raneses was named Super Leg Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Earlier, the Laguna Golden Lions salvaged Third Place with an 85-77 win over the Cebu Landmasters RDAK-Mandaue.
