Host Misamis Oriental Meteors played catch up the entire game with repeated rallies but defending National Champions M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Ninos made some timely baskets down the stretch for a 69-63 victory, their 3rd straight win in the SMC Liga Pilipinas Conference V Super Leg at the Xavier University Gymnasium Thursday evening.

Ariel Mepaña led all scorers with 19 points and Nat Cruz, Ian Saladaga and Stephen Padilla added 10 apiece for Cebu, aiming for a 3rd straight national title. Speedy Egay Billones paced the Meteors with 16 points followed by Ken Bono with nine points and nine rebounds.

In the first game, former pro EJ Feihl had 14 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and five blocks as the Laguna Golden Lions of Gov. ER Ejercito and Coach Philip Cezar bounced back from their loss to Cebu Landmasters RDAK-Mandaue by eliminating the MP Warriors of GenSan, 82-71.
