Host Misamis Oriental Meteors leaned on Dino Daa in overtime to beat defending National Champion M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Ninos, 81-74 to improve to 2-0 in the SMC Liga Pilipinas Conference V last night at the packed Xavier University Gymnasium.

Neil Raneses’ tip-in offf a Rudy Lingganay miss with 14 seconds left in regulation forced the overtime at 70-all. In the ensuing play, the Niños turned the ball over but their solid defensive foiled Egay Billones’s attempt at the buzzer.

Raneses led the Meteors with 17 points while Lingganay had a good all-around performance of 15 points, eight rebounds, six assists and six steals. Allain Maliksi topped M. Lhuillier with points followed by Mark Ababon with 12.
