Burly Ken Bono had conference highs of 27 points, eight rebounds and three blocks while speedy Egay Billones added 21 points as the Misamis Oriental Meteors shocked defending National Champion M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Ninos, 72-69, to open hostilities in the Mandaue City Leg of the SMC Liga Pilipinas Conference V Wednesday evening at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Center.

The Meteors of Gov. Oscar S. Moreno and Coach Jun Noel rallied from 11 points behind the plays of Ken Bono and Egay Billones.

Nat Cruz paced the Ninos with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Felix Belano added 11.
