The angel has finally arrived in the City of Golden Friendship….nope, it’s not the end of the world scenario that’s been the topic all over the world now…it’s St. Michael the Archangel (SMA), the latest roll-on-roll-off passenger (ROPAX) vessel from Negros Navigation Co. Inc. (NENACO) which docked at Cagayan de Oro Port a couple of days ago for its maiden arrival.
The 1,929 passenger capacity ship also has a cargo capacity of 190 twenty-foot equivalent units and is supported by two sets of main engines.
The vessel acquired by NENACO for $8.35 million has a length of 150.8 meters and a width of 25 meters with seven deck levels where suites, cabins, and VIP rooms are set. Refurbishing and upgrading of its facilities totaled $3.65 million.
Shown below is SMA during its refurbishing. You can clearly see he ship’s old name “QUEEN MARY”.
