The P1.6 billion Kapalong-Talaingod-Bukidnon Road project being constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is expected to cut two and a half hours travel time in going to Cagayan de Oro City from Davao City and vice versa, much lesser than the time spent traveling through Davao-Calinan-Bukidnon Road.
The Kapalong-Talaingod-Bukidnon road project spans a total length of 57.79 kilometers divided into 8 packages including the construction of 6 bridges and the opening of the remaining 10-kilometer stretch to the boundary of Bukidnon at Valencia City. This flagship project of the national government is under 24/7 ground works with the target timeline of completion by early next year. The road project will cut across Regions X, XI and XIII and is considered an important section of the Philippine-Japan Friendship Highway traversing Butuan City to Davao City and that of the Sayre Highway along Valencia City in Bukidnon going to Cagayan de Oro City.
If it takes you 6 hours on the current CdeO-Davao trip via Calinan, then probably, you’ll arrive at Davao City in 3.5 hours if you take this new route.
