My|Phone, a local brand of cell phone, expands its operations in Cagayan de Oro with the opening of its first store in the city Friday at Limketkai Mall.

Jaime R. Alcantara, president of Mytel Mobility Solutions Inc. that owns My Phone, said their product caters to the masses as the company developed the phones to accommodate the market segment.

Alcantara said with that niche market in mind, My Phone began to develop phones that were not just affordable but desirable and not just easy on the pocket but created with the same standards of quality as the bigger mobile phone players.

He said their units are not the simple phones with basic functions since My Phone introduces up-to-date technology like dual SIM, WiFi, Qwerty and touch screen technologies to its phone line.

The company even came out with a highly fashionable and highly affordable Swarovski phone.

All My Phone models’ prices range from P1,199 to P5,999.

“This is a mobile phone industry milestone where you can compare with the prices of the entry-level phones of popular brands, which can go as high as P6,000,” Alcantara said.

He emphasized that their phones are made affordable because My Phone defines the market as it sticks to its convictions.

He said that by defining the primary market, they put a general price cap on their phones’ suggested retail price (SRP).

“This means that every day, the person who wish to buy quality phones will no longer has to spend four or five months trying to save up for the latest technology. The Filipino market needs affordable phones and My Phone understands that this is only half of the story. Hand in hand with understanding the financial needs of the Filipino market, we also understand their emotional needs,” Alcantara said.

He said the company craves to offer affordable phones that can also make life convenient with the WiFi features, more fun with the TV phones and one that looks good such as the models with Swarovski and touch screen.

“We also want a phone that provides for the emotional and spiritual needs of the market. In My/Phone, we give confidence to anyone that even a junior executive can spend only less than P5,000 instead of shelling out much bigger amount for a very expensive brand,” Alcantara said.

In My Phone, a separate SD card has been installed with added features such as “bugtong” or Pinoy Trivia that the whole family can enjoy.

Also featured is OPM music through the Music Album Phone (MAP), which highlights music quality and exclusive songs from top artists like Sarah Geronimo.

The company said the exclusivity of the songs pre-loaded onto the phone can actually be considered as an effort to fight piracy because it cannot be ripped from the phone.

Whether student, yuppie or entrepreneur, there is no difference when six o’clock strikes since audio prayers will automatically remind them of their unified devotion when the Angelus plays on their My Phone.

The phone also stores hundreds of prayers, praise songs, e-Bible and catechism.

For the enterprising Filipino, the pre-loaded My Negosyo software can earn a person up to P15,000 a month with the small initial capital of P1,199 for the My Phone B12. All they have to do is access the exclusive software (available in all units), register and then earn by being a load provider.

“Not only does My Phone have Pinoy content, but it speaks our language,” Alcantara said.
