MACH Alberto “Bong” Fabe, the Cagayan de Oro-based correspondent of the BusinessMirror, won the top award in this year’s Fourth Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco Corp. Bright Leaf Agriculture Journalism Awards held Tuesday night at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel.
Fabe won the National Agriculture Story of the Year for his report titled “NGO promotes ducks as solution to global warming, rice sufficiency” in the July 19 issue of the BusinessMirror.
A panel of judges unanimously awarded the top prize to Fabe for his “perfect prose and factually complete report.” The judges also utilized a team of experts who verified the technical accuracy of Fabe’s report.
