THE labor force population rate for Northern Mindanao was reportedly at 70.8 percent, based on the preliminary results of the October 2010 Labor Force Survey conducted by the National Statistics Office (NSO).
The report said the rate has slightly decreased by 0.4 percent from last year’s 71.2 percent.
However, as shown on the survey, the regional employment and unemployment rate remained at 95.8 percent and 4.2 percent, respectively.
Among the regions that posted high employment rates in October 2010 were Cagayan Valley with 97.4 percent, Zamboanga Peninsula with 97 percent, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) with 96.8 percent, and Soccsksargen at 96.3 percent.
The National Capital Region (NCR) had the lowest employment rate at 87.4 percent.
Meanwhile, the underemployment rate for Northern Mindanao was posted at 26, which is lower by five percent compared with the 31 percent in October 2009.
Employed persons who want or desire additional hours of work are considered underemployed.
