Misamis Oriental has been chosen as among three pilot areas in the country for the Democratic Local Governance in Southeast Asia (DELGOSEA) to replicate local governance best practices on People Private Public Partnership from Phuket, Thailand starting this March 2011.
DELGOSEA national coordinator Crescencio Doma Jr., said the tourism of Phuket is the best practice model from Thailand which will be replicated by Misamis Oriental. The Puket model focuses on the preservation of the cultural heritage which is an integral part of their tourism industry, he said.
Specifically, the best practice title is “Preserving Old Town Architecture and Reviving Traditions as Tourist Attraction and Economic Driver”.
The province is home to many cultural heritage and cultural traditions. There are two (2) cluster municipalities under this partnership program: the Manticao, Lugait and Naawan cluster (ManLuNa) and the Binuangan, Kinoguitan and Sugbongcogon cluster (BinKiSu).
Other pilot areas are Bacolod City for the best practices of Cambodia such as traffic management and illegal vendors; and Pangasinan Province (Alaminos City) for waste water of an urban community.
