A total of Php1.43B in revenue taxes have been collected by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue Region 16 (RR16), that covers Northern Mindanao, from July to September, this year.
“This amount of collection is actually higher by Php261.42M or 23.03 percent compared to the collection of Php1.165B in the same period of 2009,” Regional Director Esmeralda M. Tabule of BIR-RR16, said.
Tabule said collections on “Income Taxes” of Php847.79M posted an increase of Php158.69M from last year’s Php689.10M or 20.04 percent followed by the Value Added Tax (VAT) with an increase of Php63.54M, from Php317.01M to Php380.56M or 20.04 percent.
Percentage Taxes also increased by Php1.70M, from Php62.41M to Php64.11M or 2.73 percent, but Excise Taxes, also known as “Sin” taxes which are levied on non-essential consumer goods, dropped from Php662,822.53 to Php121,189.91 or negative 81.72 percent.
Other Taxes that included those of the documentary, capital gains, etc. also increased by Php38.03M, from Php96.19M to Php134.21M or 39.54 percent.
On a per Revenue District Office (RDO) performance, however, RDO 100 of Ozamiz City posted the highest percentage of increase, from Php106.89M to Php140.01M or 30.99 percent, followed by RDO 98 of Cagayan de Oro, from Php654.10M to Php840.2M or 28.45 percent.
Likewise, RDO 99 of Malaybalay City increased from Php152.86M to Php187.32M or 22.54 percent, RDO 97 of Gingoog City, from Php49.79M to Php53.08M or 6.60 percent and RDO 101 of Iligan City, from Php201.74M to Php206.19M or 2.20 percent, Tabule added. (Rutchie Cabahug-Aguhob, PIA 10)
