THE regional office of the National Statistics Office (NSO) in Northern Mindanao ranked first in the Field Awards for 2010 during the culmination of the National Planning Workshop 2011 held at Pryce Plaza Hotel held recently.
Dr. Janith C. Aves, NSO-Northern Mindanao statistician, said in a phone interview that the 10th regional office got the final rating of 76.4 percent against closest rival NSO Region IV-B which got 74.0 percent.
Aves said the award came based on the regional programs, on the conduct of surveys and output reportage to the central office and its partnership and linkages with line agencies and barangay governments.
She said the performance rankings were made for the provincial and regional levels of the NSO.
The NSO Misamis Oriental under provincial statistics officer Malou B. Igdon has ranked 9th and 3rd in Partnership and Linkages while NSO’s Bukidnon provincial office, headed by Eddie Nasul, ranked 11th and 3rd in Statistical Operation.
Meanwhile, NSO-Camiguin under Norma Quilala ranked 4th in Civil Registration while NSO Lanao del Norte ranked 6th in Information Dissemination.
The Field Awards is based on the categories of operation in the fields of Statistical, Civil Registration, Information Dissemination, Partnership and Linkages and General Administration.
The National Office conducts a yearly evaluation of all branches to come up with Field Awards to deserving offices.
Heading the Field Awards committee is NSO Deputy Administrator Paula Monina G. Collado.
Meanwhile, Aves said NSO-Northern Mindanao vows to boost its services in the coming years.
“We have plenty of programs, especially for 2011. We will try to do surveys more efficiently to be reported to the President, be evaluated and be acted upon,” Aves said.
