Five World-class chefs converge to cook up a culinary storm in Cagayan de Oro!
To help realize the dreams of foodies and aspiring chefs, Liceo de Cagayan University Institute of Short Studies now offers a Diploma in Culinary Arts and Kitchen Management with a culinary dream team as mentors.
Chef Carsten Radke, the Executive Chef and part owner of La Vetta Restaurant at the Limketkai Center. He is a graduate from the Oberstufencentrum in Germany and topped the chef certification exams for entire Berlin during his time. He led several kitchen teams in Switzerland as Chef de Partie. He is a certified Chef Instructor for Switzerland and Germany since 1991.
Chef Ryan Rivero is a traveling chef and consultant for several resorts and restaurants in Mindanao. He worked as a Function Chef at the Ramada Suites in New Jersey. Chef Ryan earned his Diplome de Cuisine at the Le Cordon Bleu Dusit. He also workd as Chef de Partie at Shanghai Mansions and at the Dejavu Restaurant Pullman Hotel King Power both in Bangkok, Thailand.
Chef Andrew Mills is a graduate from Louisiana State University and earned a Grand Diplome from the French Culinary Institute. He worked at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, Jean Georges flagship 4 star restaurant in the Trump International Hotel. Chef Andrew was the Executive Sous Chef at the Thompson Beverly Hills before moving to CdO to open Bourbon St. Bistro in Rosario Arcade at Limketkai Mall.
Chef Nikki Mills is the Chef/Owner of Bourbon St. Bistro in Limketkai Mall, Rosario Arcade. She is a graduate from Ateneo de Manila University and earned a Grand Diplome from the French Culinary Institute. Chef Nikki worked at Danny Meyers’ Eleven Madison Park with Chef Tom Colicchio at the Core Club and the Ritz-Carlton Central Park South. Before coming home to CdO, she was the pastry chef at the Thompson Beverly Hills.
Awi Chaves is the owner and head cake stylist of Cakeistry CDO. She has always loved baking and discovered her knack for decorating when her friends started ordering more complicated cake designs. She honed her skills when she enrolled in the Wilton Course 1, 2 & 3 and became a master in sculpting fondant and gum paste into her now famous whimsical cake stylings. She decided to share her talent to help make Cagayan de Oro a true culinary destination.
These top chefs will be the mentors in whipping up delectable culinary masterpieces in the first batch of Culinary Arts students starting January 8, 2011 until August 15, 2011.
