THE hottest male television reporter to debut around town today is also an achieved experimental film director. Nef Luczon, who is formerly a Manila Bulletin correspondent before his current post as reporter for GMA 12 Cagayan de Oro, has his second 11-minute short Busgak (Rupture) as an entry to the prestigious Davao City-based 6th Mindanao Film Festival.
Busgak is the story revolving around the life of Angelo, 7, (Christian Angelo Kamata) who is under the custody of her mother, Susan (Gracela Balucating). Susan and Angelo’s father decide to separate ways years ago. Susan begins to prostitute herself so that she and Angelo will survive everyday and it grows terrible when Susan returns to her homeland in Davao City – this time even allowing her costumers going in and out of their rented house and forcing Angelo to leave the house when there is one.
Angelo is left unattended, causing some gossipers to discuss the boy’s fate, without even knowing that his father is already dead, not even had the opportunity to see the last glimpse of him. This is Luczon’s second movie after 2008’s Panagsaad sa mga Panganod which he screened in his hometown of Davao City.
Luczon finished his AB Mass Communications at the University of Mindanao majoring in television and radio broadcasting and is currently taking up a Master in Development Communication via an online course with UP – Los Baños. Balucating is a member of Voiceworks Theatre Company, Inc. while the rest of the cast are neophyte actors.
