Liceo de Cagayan University (LDCU) recently launched its Geographic Information System Technology Center with Dr. Alejandro F. Tongco, a GIS expert from Oklahoma State University, cutting the ribbon on October 4, 2010, at the CISCO laboratory.
This in accordance with the terms of the Memorandum of Agreement between LDCU and Oklahoma State University.
The GIS Technology Center will bolster the capability of the university towards making Liceo a Philippine model of a GIS-entrenched technology application in all the areas of governance and management. The ribbon cutting was witnessed by Engr. Manuel Orbeta, LiceoNet Administrator; Dr. Andrew P. Ponte, Dean, College of Information Technology; Dr. Genaro V. Japos, Director, Research and Publication; and Dr. Lesley C. Lubos, Associate Director.
The GIS technology application focuses on the following areas: campus administration, student administration, curriculum and instruction, research, extension and outreach, income generation, GIS faculty and staff development, placement and alumni administration, university GIS technology center, and GIS institutionalization.
