Guard Carlo Lastimosa was officially announced the Rookie of the Year of the league’s 86th season after a stellar year.

The former standout from Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan who also had a short stint as a member of the Ateneo Team B registered 32.9 statistical points to beat out Arellano’s Jerald Lapuz by a wide margin to win the honor given to best player on his maiden campaign.

Standing at 5-foot-11, Lastimosa led the league in scoring with an average of 17.3 points on 39-percent shooting while adding 3.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals in playing all 16 games this season.

His best game came in a 62-51 loss to defending champion San Sebastian with 26 points on August 27.

Lastimosa, the nephew of cage legend Jojo Lastimosa, became the first College of St. Benilde Blazer in 10 years to win the Rookie of the Year.
