Marks and Spencer, one of the United Kingdom’s leading retailers, will soon open in Cagayan de Oro City, its first branch in Mindanao.
The Cagayan de Oro branch will be the UK retail’s 17th store in the Philippines, said Erica Fernandez, a marketing specialist of Rustans, Marks and Spencer’s exclusive distributor in the country.
“M and S is one of UK’s leading retailers, which sells stylish, high quality, great value clothing and home products, as well as outstanding quality food, responsibly sourced from around 2,000 suppliers globally,” Fernandez said.
Marks and Spencer, she said, will open its local store by the end of October at Limketkai Mall.
“M and S is the number one provider of women’s wear and lingerie in the UK, and has rapidly growing market share in men’s wear, kids’ wear and home, due in part to its online business,” she said. Christine Naral, in-charge for Marks and Spencer recruitment in the city, recently held a recruitment drive in the city for its local branch.
“We are looking for employees from supervisory position down to sales lady. They will be well compensated and be given benefits that an employee truly deserves,” Naral said.
Fernandez said M & S is known for its “green credentials”, as a result of the company’s five-year eco-plan, Plan A, she saids entails having M & S products become carbon-neutral by 2012. Naral said: “With an unrivaled reputation for quality products, value, service, innovation and trust, we are looking forward for Kagay-anons to love and patronize our products.”
