Sen. Escudero to give keynote speech on 2nd Mindanao IBP convention




Sen. Francisco Joseph Escudero will give the keynote address during the 2nd Mindanao Integrated Bar of the Philippines Convention and Olympics at the Xavier Sports & Country Club, Cagayan de Oro City, on Sept. 30-Oct. 2, 2010,

The Senator who is the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Justice is expected to talk on the convention theme: “Mindanao Lawyers Towards a Responsive Justice System in the New Decade,” Atty. Dale Bryan B. Mordeno, President of IBP- Misamis Oriental and convention host, said.

“About 1,000 lawyers from all over Mindanao will attend the 3-day activity, as this would be an occasion to brush-up relationships, not only professionally, that will earn some 12 units of the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) for the participants but also through sports,” the IBP-Mis. Or. Chapter President said.

Among others, the convention activities will include a “Mindanao Summit for Justice 2010” and the following tournaments: golf, badminton, volleyball, basketball, poker game, tennis, billiards, bowling, darts and chess.

Bar and Bench Dialogue, Environmental Alternative Dispute Resolution, Fine Tuning Our Language, Exercise in Legal Writing and the Nov. 23, 2009 Maguindanao Massacre where two (2) lawyers were killed are also included among the topics of the convention.

Also expected to attend the convention as resource persons are Renato C. Corona, Supreme Court Chief Justice, Jose Midas P. Marquez, SC Court Administrator, Raul Villanueva, SC Deputy Administrator, Niel C. Tupas Jr., Chairperson of the Committee on Justice, House of Representatives, Jose Vicente B. Salazar, Undersecretary of Justice and Leila M. de Lima, Secretary of Justice.
