Officials of Xavier University led by President Fr. Jose Ramon “Jett” Villarin, SJ recently held the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Magis Student Complex located at the old canteen site inside their main campus along Corrales Avenue, Cagayan de Oro City.
The 2-storey building with a multi-purpose rooftop is expected to be completed in May 2011.
Another building set to rise at the main campus is the Pryce Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE) or the Student Entrepreneurship Program (SEP) Building shown below. (Just asking if the Pryce name is final….???)
The building will be located fronting Corrales Avenue between the agriculture and science center buildings. This will be a 2-storey (ground floor and mezzanine) structure accessible to the public. Both public at large and students can come in the front access doors to view and/or purchase products from SEP. A new student access gate is also being proposed to be set up at the rear for student entry to the main campus.
Based on the above plans, the ground floor will have 6 leasable modules (5 sq. meters) for dry good selling of students, 3 leasable “island” modules (4 sq. meters, collapsible type) for temporary or short-term selling or product launchings; 2 Larger spaces (with window display) at the front which serve as prime location – 1 will house the College of Agriculture products that they currently sell at the Tabuan – SC Dry pond (with washing area) – 1 can accommodate SEP-operated venture like the ornamental fish venture or a social enterprise. The second floor will house the business center and other meeting rooms.
I don’t know if the perspective shown will be the final design but one thing’s certain, it surely change the building landscape of Xavier University especially that this will be erected fronting Corrales Avenue.
