PINEAPPLE cannery giant Del Monte Phils, Inc. (DMPI) has recently earned two certificates for Good Laboratory Practices (ISO 17025), the first to be awarded among food manufacturers in Northern Mindanao.

The twin certificates reaffirm that food and beverages processed at this cannery and marketed world-wide under the premium Del Monte and S&W brands conform with the highest international standards in food safety and quality.

“Our new GLP certificates affirm the reliability and integrity of product testing processes at the Del Monte Cannery laboratory, and further assure our customers of the high quality of our food and beverage products,” DMPI’s Director for Quality Assurance Cloy Abejuela said.

The certificates, issued following comprehensive assessment of cannery laboratory competencies, are valid until 2015. Complementing the new certificates are certificates for Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO and HACCP earlier issued by leading independent process auditor SGS Philippines, and a certificate for Good Agricultural Practices for growing pineapples from the Dept. of Agriculture.

The Del Monte cannery located in Bugo, Cagayan de Oro is the world’s largest integrated pineapple processing plant, with an annual processing capacity of 700,000 tons. The cannery operates as a special economic zone under the Philippine Economic Zone Authority as it ensures the competitiveness of Filipino products in the global market.
