Buffalo Resto Grill, located at the former Sunriva Café and Restaurant, has just opened over the weekend. This is the latest perhaps fine diner to open in Cagayan de Oro.
I first posted that Sunriva is undergoing renovation last August 10, 2010. Accordingly, they started renovating inside the buulding some weeks earlier. In fact, they posted job ads for receptionist, cashier, waiters/waitresses and utility workers last July. All applicaions were sent to DBA Traders and Industrial Works at 198 Corrales Avenue, Cagayan de Oro City (just beside Bombo Radyo).– perhaps the restaurant owners?
Ever since Caprice Steakhouse (the original locator) closed long ago, rentees have not really enjoyed business success. Gourmet de Oro, the first successor enjoyed some brief success but did not last long as new function venues such as Philtown Hotel and DeLuxe Hotel took some big chunk of the seminar/convention market.
Although the place is spacious and large enough to hold regional conventions, organizers seem to ignore this place as a primary, secondary and even third option for venue. Part of the problem really is the lack of parking space. But some friends said the major reason is the food… The same reason why conventions are always held in Pearlmont Inn, Philtown Hotel, Grand Caprice, De Luxe Hotel, Pryce Plaza…etc. (they serve good food!).
With Buffalo Resto Grill, I just hope the new they have reasonable rates – meaning, customers don’t care about the price as long as the food is good. By the way, they should serve “buffalo”…
