AS PART of the celebration of 2010 as International Year of Biodiversity, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Northern Mindanao recently organized a three-day tour for select members of the media from Manila to Mount Kitanglad Range Natural Park (MKRNP) in Bukidnon, a newly proclaimed Asean Heritage Park.
The Mt. Kitanglad Range Natural Park covers a total area of 47,270 hectares and is within the political jurisdiction of the seven municipalities of Talakag, Baungon, Libona, Manolo Fortich, Sumilao, Lantapan, and Impasug-ong and the city of Malaybalay in the province of Bukidnon.
During the tour, the media were briefed on the features and accomplishments on the protection of Mount Kitanglad Range and Natural Park (MKRNP).
Dr. Filiberto Pollistico of the Asean Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) provided a briefing on areas considered as Asean Heritage Park.
According to Dr. Pollistico, Mt. Kitanglad Range Natural Park is the 3rd ASEAN heritage park in the country.
