GOVERNMENT leaders are now keen on developing more and more entrepreneurs in the region.
The Regional Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Council (RMSMEDC) in Region X has put in place a memorandum of agreement with officials of the Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST) for an entrepreneurship course offering called the Northern Mindanao Entrepreneurship Academy which is targeted to start next year.
Ruben A. Vegafria, chairperson of the Council, said the effort was initiated by RMSMEDC in support to the campaign of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to develop more entrepreneurs.
“Under the agreement, MUST would be using three modules to students who will undergo the course on how to start a business, access to financing and marketing strategies,” Vegafria said.
The short course would be implemented by MUST and RMSMEDC in cooperation with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), DTI and the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (Oro Chamber).
Vegafria said the modules are still under study and review by a technical working group.
“MUST would provide for the space for students to be accommodated for the training and the DTI and the Oro Chamber would provide for the instructors,” he said.
Vegafria expressed optimism that the program would “click.”
